ABOUT PAMELA A. KEENE
Freelance Journalist and Public Relations Consultant
A practicing journalist with seven years of daily newspaper experience, Pamela A. Keene is an excellent writer who understands the daily workings of the media. Her reputation with media throughout the Southeast brings a high level of credibility and effectiveness to the agency. Today, in addition to her public relations work, she is an active freelance journalist for the Atlanta Journal/Constitution and a number of regional magazines and newspapers.
Pam knows how to attract and hold the attention of the media, maximizing opportunities and converting them into positive coverage. Her knowledge of targeted marketing programs with orchestrated activities ensures effective, results-oriented public relations counseling for the agencys clients.
As former Assistant Manager of Public Relations at Six Flags Over Georgia, Pam is familiar with all aspects of marketing and the benefits of integrating communications programs, from media relations to promotions, advertising to employee newsletters. Her stint as Entertainment Editor of the Macon Telegraph and News for nearly four years prepared her for repeated successes as a public relations professional.
She is a freelance journalist and has been published in Delta SKY, Atlanta Magazine, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Inside Cobb and several trade publications. In addition, she was contributing writer for Rand-McNallys Weekend Getaways for the Southeast. Ms. Keene is co-author of two full-sized color books -- Atlanta: A City for the World, published through Atlantas Cultural Affairs Department in 1988, and Columbus: The Spirit, The People, The Promise, published through the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.
Pam regularly writes for the Atlanta Journal/Constitution, covering healthcare, real estate and features for special sections. She is published monthly in PULSE magazine, which is read by 135,000 nurses and allied healthcare professionals across Georgia. Her monthly PULSE column "For Your Benefit" covers career and personal management topics. She is senior writer for Lakeside on Lanier, providing a monthly column that focuses on real estate and gardening.
Articles written for clients have appeared in Delta SKY, ZIP Target Marketing, Hospital Physician, MD News, New Practice Planning, Points North, Inside Cobb, Electric Light & Power, Public Utilities Fortnightly, as well as in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Atlanta Magazine, Lakeside on Lanier, Southwinds Sailing and WHERE Magazine.
Active in community affairs, Pam served as chairman of the 75th Anniversary Committee of the Metro Atlanta Red Cross and a member of several boards of directors, including the Arts Festival of Atlanta. She is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Cobb and Leadership Hall, three community programs that select a limited number of participants from a broad base of nominees each year.
She was recognized in 1989 through the Communicator of the Year Award, presented to the citys outstanding communicator by the American Red Cross, and the President's Award from Women in Communications. She was also selected as one of 10 Outstanding Women in Business and Industry through the Cobb County YWCA.
A member of the Atlanta Press Club and the Public Relations Society of America, Pam is frequently asked to present programs and seminars about public relations and marketing, as well as being asked to serve on boards and committees for non-profit organizations. Her workshops have included sessions for the Centers for Disease Control national conference, the North Georgia Community Foundation's Non-Profit Network and Families in Action. She is listed in Whos Who in Emerging Leaders in the Southeast and in Whos Who in America.
Pam served as producer and co-host of "The Eagle Report," a 30-minute public affairs program that airs on Eagle 106.7 FM each Sunday throughout metro Atlanta. The program features a wide range of topics from health issues and family violence to the arts and entertainment. The show was nominated for a 2003 AIR Award.
A Florida native, she lives in Flowery Branch, just 30 minutes northeast of Atlanta. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Stetson University in DeLand, FL, where she was involved with the campus public relations office and edited several campus publications. She is also an accomplished photographer.
In her spare time, Ms. Keene races her Morgan 25 sailboat on Lake Lanier. She has served as commodore of Atlanta Inland Sailing Club and Barefoot Sailing Club. She is also a certified sailing instructor through US Sailing and the American Sailing Association.
